Biomarker discovery for bacterial biofilms specific for colonic advanced adenomas. Homo sapiens

This study aimed to increase detection of right-sided colorectal cancer precursor lesions by identification of biofilm targets from the surface metagenome and proteome. Patients with advanced adenomas scheduled for an excision procedure were asked to participate in the study providing a sample from both the adenoma and normal tissue. Biofilm prevalence was evaluated, and surface proteome and metagenome was analyzed using LC-MS MS and Illumina Next-seq metagenome sequencing respectively.
