Diversity and differentiation patterns in African raptor genomes; Hooded and White-backed vulture

Two genomes of the Hooded Vulture (Necrosyrtes monachus) were sequenced as part of the internship project of KA van der Meer. A paper of the internship under the name "Diversity and differentiation patterns in African raptor genomes; Hooded and White-backed vulture" is expected to be published at the end of 2024. The PrometION sequencer was used and org.one provided the consumables. The 10.4 flow cells were used and the v14 ligation kit. The genome is assembled using porechop, flye and medaka. The Hooded Vultures that were sequenced come from Foundation Wings of Change.The goal was to make a reference genome available so that is more feasible to monitor and do genetic studies on the critically endangered Hooded vultures. I hope this will aid in conservation efforts.
