Genetic Immunoepidemiology of Schistosomiasis in southwestern Nigeria

The aim of the study is to examine genetic susceptibility, host-microbiome interaction, polymorphisms and immuno-epidemiology in the progression of infectious disease especially schistosomiasis in southwestern Nigeria. The objective is to identify possible biomarkers for diagnosis and vaccine development, elucidate the molecular mechanism in the development of schistosomiasis associated bladder cancer, and examine possibility of pre/probiotics for treatment. This will impart control efforts.
