Muon States in Chlorinated Solvents

Increasingly, groups are using chlorinated solvents (particularly dichloromethane) to put samples into solution to study muonium (Mu) addition reactions and the resultant radical states. Results are variable and to fully understand and utilise these solvents for muon chemistry, it is essential to study the bare different chlorinated solvents. This proposal seeks to understand the muonium aberration reaction in monochloromethane and build on results obtained from PSI experiments on dichloromethane, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride.
