VPRS 768 Applications to Purchase Land, Section 37 Land Act 1869

This series contains applications made to purchase land unsold at public auction or where the balance of the purchase price had not been paid. Previous examples of the same type of application may be found in VPRS 86 for the period to 1862, in VPRS 831 for Applications under Section 42 of the Land Act 1862 and VPRS 769 for applications made for in the same way under Section 35, Amending Land Act 1865.Section 37 of the Land Act 1869 allowed an application to be made for the purchase of land unsold at public auction or where the balance of the purchase price offered at auction had not been made. Sales were to be at no less than the upset price of one pound per acre.Details given in this series are the actual application with the name, address and occupation of the applicant and a description of the extent and location of the land (with a plan in some). Cover sheets have the file number (an annual single correspondence number) and a reference to a book. Further research is required into this.Section 37 Land Act 1869 allowed application to be made to purchase land unsold at public auction or where the balance of the purchase money had not been paid with a consequent forfeiture. The purchase price was to be no less than the minimum upset price of one pound per acre.
