Geoglossomycetes (Ascomycota) is a class of fungi commonly known as "earth-tongues". The taxonomic classification of this under-studied class has been ambiguous, resulting in many shifts in its placement. The group was only recently recognized as a class, and its taxonomy is in need of further research and possible revisions. In this study, the analysis of genome-scale data will provide insight into the phylogenetic relationships within Geoglossomycetes.
