This dataset contains input variables used in the analysis of the relationship between root zone storage capacity (Sr,max) and the ω parameter of the Fu’s Budyko equation, as presented in the associated manuscript titled as "Catchment precipitation partitioning in the Budyko framework is controlled by root zone storage capacity". The data represent 5717 global catchments covering a wide range of hydroclimatic zones. The dataset includes catchment scale values of : Hydro-meteorological variables (e.g., precipitation, potential evaporation, streamflow, temperature, seasonality index of effective precipitation, fraction of snow) Vegetation related variables (e.g., NDVI, fraction of irrigation, and fractions of different land covers) Soil related variables (e.g., Plant Extractable Soil Water Content, Potential Storage of Water Derived from Soil Texture, fraction of clay and sand Derived variables such as Sr,max [mm] and Fu’s ω [-] The data were used to produce all figures and statistical analyses in the study.
