Ramie is an economically important natural-fiber-producing crop that has been cultivated for thousands of years in China. Although contig-level assemblies consisted of large numbers of fragmental sequences is available in ramie, they are little useful for biological, breeding, and evolutionary studies in this crop. Here, we de novo assembled the high-quality genome for cultivated ramie Zhongsizhu 1. The chromosome-level assemblyprovide an invaluable resource for future biological and breeding studies in ramie.
