A Staphylococcus schleiferi dog skin isolate was sequenced using a Pacific Biosciences RSII platform and assembled into a complete de novo whole genome. S. scheleiferi is often found in humans and companion animals as a commensal and/or pathogenic organism. Our goal was to 1) obtain the first reported S. schleiferi whole genome sequence, and 2) perform comparative genomic analyses using four clinical S. schleiferi isolates.
