Clinical outcome for all Acute Encephalitis Syndrome patients included in the study. Outcomes presented as number in each group with proportion (%). Where outcome involved death, the denominator was based on total number of families contacted. Otherwise denominator was based on the number of patients alive at follow-up in the group. P values correspond to differences between ‘Confirmed JE’ and ‘Other AES’ groups across categories of impairment.
