since first emergence from natal nursery burrow For this file, Age = 1 = yearling, and Age = 2 = male of age >=2 = 2,3,4,5,or 6 years old So, for this EXCEL file, age has only two categories: 1 (yearlings) and adults (>=2 years old) See other files for more precise analysis of BTPD male age vs male copulations and weanlings sired. Sexual partners = number of different females with whom male copulated during mating season Weanlings = number of weanlings sired Weanling = juvenile offspring at first emergence from natal burrow-entrance Male body mass in autumn = body mass in previous autumn (details in other files) Male body mass during mating season = body mass just before, during, or just after mating season, which usually started in mid-to late February and continued until mid-March I defined mating season as time interval between (and including) the first copulation through last copulation at the study-colony Male body mass at 1st juvenile emergences = body mass just before, during, or just first appearance of weanlings in May or June For year, 75 = 1975, 76 = 1976, 80 = 1980, etc. I considered data from the same male in different years to be independent. Notice that this file includes data from BOTH yearling BTPD males (1-year olds) AND >=2-year old BTPD males-- even though yearling BTPD males usually did not copulate. This file ready for longterm storage on 06 March 2025. Remember: values of 88 and 99 indicate missing data. I do not remember why I used 88 and 99 rather than simple blank cells or "." I use this single BTPD file for three different, consecutive figures in Hoogland 2026: 14.7, 14.8. and 14.9. Sexual partners = number of different females with whom single BTPD copulated. No eartags in this file. Case number (2-638) = single BTPD male per year I considered data from the same BTPD male in different years to be independent. The number above each bar (Fig 14.7) or SE line (Figs 14.8 and 14.9) = number of BTPD males from which I collected data Figs 14.7, 14.8, and 14.9 all show means + one standard error (SEM) For Figs 14.8 and 14.9. all data are from males that copulated with at least one female.
