Project determining zoonotic pasteurella genome

The purpose of this project is to clarify the genetic characteristics from the whole genome sequences of Pasteurella spp. obtained from humans and companion animals (dogs, cats, etc.) in mainly Japan at various ages. Specifically, Pasteurella isolates are collected from hospitals and clinical laboratory centers for animals. Then the genomic DNA is extracted from those isolates and the whole genome sequences are obtained by new generation sequencer. In addition, the whole genome sequences are compared between collection dates, hosts, bacterial species, etc. to reveal the differences between the two groups. By observing the relationship between genetic characteristics and phenotype in each of these Pasteurella isolates, we will deepen our insight into Pasteurella spp.
