Catalog of Explosion-Related Very-Long-Period (VLP) Detections at Stromboli Volcano from Template Matching

This dataset contains the catalog of explosion-related very-long-period (VLP) seismic detections generated in this study using a template-matching (matched-filter) approach. Each row corresponds to a single detection. The catalog spans the study period: 2016/01/01 to 2024/07/30 (YYYY-MM-DD) and is intended to support reproducible analyses of VLP occurrence rates, size statistics, and related comparisons presented in the associated manuscript. Times are reported in UTC. PGD and peak-frequency metrics are computed from the band-pass filtered waveforms used in the detection workflow (see the manuscript for processing details). File format------------ Format: comma-separated values (CSV)- Header: first row contains column names- One row = one detection Column definitions------------------id Unique integer identifier of the detection (internal catalog ID). yyyy, mm, dd, hh, min, sec Date and time of the detection (year, month, day, hour, minute, second). Time standard: UTC similarity Maximum normalized cross-correlation (or template similarity score) associated with the detection. Range: [0, 1]. The minimum accepted similarity threshold used in this study is 0.4. PGD_up Peak Ground Displacement (PGD) metric for the VLP signal, maximum positive value over the analysis window. Units: meters (m). PGD_down Minimum (most negative) displacement amplitude over the analysis window. Units: meters (m). Note: this is typically negative, meaning downwards); the absolute amplitude may be compared to PGD_up depending on the analysis. PeakFreq Peak (dominant) frequency of the VLP signal in the analysis window. Units: Hz. PGD_up_tremor Maximum PGD measured for the tremor band/window associated with the detection, computed using the same time window as described in the manuscript. Units: meters (m). PGD_down_tremor Minimum (most negative) tremor displacement amplitude over the tremor window. Units: meters (m). PeakFreq_tremor Peak (dominant) frequency measured for the tremor band/window associated with the detection. Units: Hz. Notes and recommended use-------------------------- This is an automatically generated detection catalog; a subset of detections close to the adopted similarity threshold was manually inspected as a quality check (see manuscript).- For analyses requiring catalog completeness, we recommend applying a size threshold based on PGD percentiles (as done in the paper), rather than using all detections indiscriminately.
