File List powerlawtail.txt -- R code needed to derive the power-law tail probability density function.<br> tracksim.txt -- R code needed to simulate tracks based on the power-law tail probability density function. Description The powerlawtail.txt R code generates an idealized Lévy flight power-law tail probability density function based on <i> µ</i> = 2 and <i> -- IMAGE: Please see in attached file. --</i> = 1. The code also provides a sampling 'check' function to determine <i> </i>µ from the relationship between the log of the step length frequencies and the log of the step lengths (corrected for the appropriate binning procedure as discussed in Appendix A and the main text of the paper). The tracksim.txt R code uses the idealized Lévy flight power-law tail probability density function to simulate animal movement tracks over 365 days assuming random turn angles after each step.
