We employed a deep 16S amplicon sequencing approach to evaluate the diversity of six sediments deep-sea in the Colombian Southern Caribbean

The deep-sea is considered an extreme environment due to high atmospheric pressure and low temperatures; the microorganisms that inhabit it are little studied because most are not cultivable, and there are difficulties associated with sampling in deep waters. In the present study, 16s rRNA sequencing was used to estimate the composition and microbial diversity of 6 samples collected in two locations south of the Colombian Caribbean Sea and at different depths.
