Sovetskii Ekran Reader Surveys Dataset (1959–1991)

This dataset contains structured data compiled from reader surveys published in the Soviet film magazine Sovetskii ekran between 1959 and 1991. The magazine regularly conducted reader surveys in which participants shared their opinions about cinema. Readers named their favourite and least favourite films, actors and actresses, and often provided demographic and social information such as age, place of residence, occupation, and cinema-going habits. The dataset aggregates the results of these surveys in a structured tabular format, providing a longitudinal record of audience preferences and characteristics of Soviet film viewers over more than three decades. Survey results were manually extracted from magazine issues and compiled into a unified dataset.
