资源简介:
This study investigates the regionalization of tick–vertebrate associations across the Western Palearctic and Afrotropical regions, with a focus on climatic influences. By analyzing the co-occurrence patterns of 82 tick species and 121 vertebrate genera, we aim to assess how climate influences tick endemism and ß-diversity across the study area. Furthermore, we examine as a proof of concept whether statistically homogeneous groups of co-occurring ticks share environmental niches because their associations with available vertebrates.Supplementary Material 1 contains the maps of the predicted distribution of species of ticks reported from the Western Palearctic and the Afrotropical region. They have been prepare using a Stacking Distribution Species modeling (SSDM) as explained in the paper "to be filled when accepted".It is important to note that these are raw maps, that have not yet been assessed for its identity. In example, some endophilous species (e.g. Ixodes ventalloi) have been included. Given that only climate variables are used to develop the models, it is unlikely that these models are correct. Therefore, please note that these are "not debugged maps".After decompression fo the file, there are folders with the name of each species of ticks. Inside the folder, there are .csv files explaining some statistics of each model, as well as geoTIFF files with the binary (present/absent) range obtained with the values of sensitivity and specificity, the probability of presence (also named "climate suitability") and a map of uncertainty. To note, too, these are maps trained with SSDM, which is an ensemble modeling. Even if several algorithms were tested, using the package "SSDM" for R, only ONE map is provided for each species. The map is the one resulting from the best modeling approach, after testing several strategies of thinning and combination of variables.Supplementary Material 2 contains scripts in R to (a) calculate a principal components analysis according to chorotypes, (b) calculate a PCA-derived niche, and (c) compute the harmonic regression (Fourier transform) to obtain the explanatory climate variables from monthly raw climate variables.Supplementary Material 3 contains a PDF with the phylogenetic tree of the vertebrates used in this study, that is also available as a nexus type file.
