Soil contamination, Area classification

Area where the soil is assumed to be slightly contaminated, designated in accordance with Section 50a of the Soil Contamination Act. Urban zone is classified as the starting point as an area where the soil is assumed to be slightly contaminated. Urban zones are defined in accordance with the rules laid down in the Planning Act (Section 34 of Consolidated Act No 937 of 24/09/2009). Larger, contiguous areas within urban zones can by regulations be taken out of area classification, when the municipality has knowledge that the soil is not slightly contaminated (cf. section 50a, paragraph 2).
