Roads

From dirt to asphalt to concrete, roads have a wide variety of composition, usage, classification, and purpose. Primarily, roads are separated into two types - urban and rural, and then specifically identified in the following categories: interstates, freeways, expressways, tollways, principal arterials, minor arterials, major and minor collectors and local roads. The centerline and its associated data are contained within this feature. Associated data will include the name of the road, the block range, the jurisdictions in which it lies, speed and the classification. Roads are a crucial part of the county's infrastructure and the data contained within the GIS feature is utilized by Greater Harris County 911 (GHC911) for emergency response throughout the area. Based on the information within the data, specific emergency services are dispatched.
