Near-term forecast of Austrian greenhouse gas emissions for 2018.

The current EU MonMech Regulation (MMR - Monitoring Mechanism Regulation, 525/2013/EU) obliges Member States to submit their preliminary estimates of greenhouse gas emissions for reporting year X-1 (in this case for 2018) annually to the European Commission by 31 July. The near-term forecast of greenhouse gas emissions for 2018 was carried out using a simplified methodology and shows preliminary figures as well as the current trend for 2018. It is therefore still subject to uncertainties and the results may differ from the inventory published in January 2020. According to preliminary figures, around 79.1 million tonnes of greenhouse gases were emitted in Austria in 2018. Compared to 2017, this represents a decrease of 3.8% or 3.2 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent.
