SDG 15.2.1 Proportion of forest area within legally established protected areas sustainable forest management sub-indicator

This dataset reports the percentage of Qatar's forest area located within legally established protected areas and is one of five sub-indicators used in the SDG 15.2.1 dashboard for progress towards sustainable forest management. It is calculated as forest area within legally established protected areas divided by total forest area, multiplied by 100. The measure is a proxy for the protection of forest biodiversity and associated natural, cultural and spiritual values. It records legal area coverage and does not by itself measure the effectiveness of protection, management or enforcement.
