In this study, we attempted to report the chromosome-level nonredundant haploid genome of P. conradinae. The population genomics of 21 wild cherries from Fujian and Zhejiang were investigated using genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to elucidate the evolution of natural cherries populations from these two adjacent areas in China. Moreover, one gene (SVP) involved in flower development was identified on the basis of this genome assembly, and was further overexpressed in A. thaliana to demonstrate whether this gene affected the flower development of P. conradinae.
