According to a survey conducted in 2023, the share of enterprises in Japan that have adopted some type of variable working hour system was 59.3 percent. Variable working hour systems include a one-year or one-month variable working hours system, a flextime system on a daily basis, and an atypical adjustable working hours system for a week.
