We utilize Illumina paired-end Solexa sequencing to conduct the de novo assembly and annotation of the Sagittaria bulb transcriptome. According to KEGG pathway information, we first identified candidate genes of the key enzymes involved in starch and sucrose metabolism and estimated the expression levels of these genes in different stages of bulb formation and development
