The utilization of bacteriophages to minimize the impact of multidrug resistant emerging pathogens could be the ideal alternative to antibiotics. Currently, only minimal emphasis is being placed on isolating and applying such phages. In the current study, samples were collected from the environment and the bacterial and bacteriophage diversity evaluated using phenotypic, molecular and mass spectrometric analyses.
