PROBLEMS OF MORAL EDUCATION IN CHILDREN'S LITERATURE AND THEIR ARTISTIC REPRESENTATION.

This study argues that Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist presents the problems of moral education as a consequence of social injustice, poverty, institutional neglect, and the absence of ethical guidance, while simultaneously demonstrating that moral integrity can be preserved through compassion, empathy, and humane relationships. Through realistic characterization, social criticism, irony, symbolism, and other artistic devices, Dickens reveals that moral development is shaped not only by individual character but also by the social environment in which individuals are raised. The novel therefore challenges contemporary educational and social institutions that fail to protect vulnerable children and emphasizes the necessity of moral education founded on human dignity, justice, and responsibility. By examining the interaction between personal virtue and social conditions, this research demonstrates that Oliver Twist remains a significant literary work for understanding the relationship between moral education, social reform, and ethical consciousness.
