VPRS 15716 Register of Inward Correspondence, General

This series registers correspondence received at the Department of Crown lands and Survey (VA 538). Further research is required into these, but it is believed that they were kept by a Branch of the Department.The series re-registers correspondence which has already been allocated an alpha-numeric registration number for the Branch. Most of these alphabetical designations refer to correspondence dealing with specific matters (such as those with 'C' for Crown reserves) or specific areas of the state (such as 'G' for the Melbourne area). Explanations of these prefixes may be found in the Appendix 9 of The Lands Manual available in Reading Rooms.Details given are the date of the correspondence, the registration number, the name of the correspondence and at times, the subject and where the correspondence was referred to (usually the Land Officer or the Occupation branch or the Accounts Branch).
