Comprehensive Thin Section Analysis Logbook with Images and Diagrams from the Fimbule Ice Shelf Expedition

This dataset presents a comprehensive logbook detailing the thin section analysis of ice samples extracted from the Fimbule Ice Shelf during the 2021/2022 Antarctic expedition. This data forms part of the Master's research project titled "Development of a Multi-tier System for the Analysis of Ice Crystallography of Antarctic Shelf Ice", conducted by Steven McEwen. The logbook includes images of the thin ice samples, Schmidt diagrams indicating the orientation of the crystalline structures, and fabric diagrams depicting the overall structure and arrangement of the ice crystals in the samples. These diagrams and images collectively provide a detailed perspective of the ice's crystallography in the Fimbule Ice Shelf. The data collection period aligns with the 2021/2022 Antarctic summer expedition, and the ice samples were tested and analyzed within the Polar Engineering Research Groups laboratory.
