"This paper contributes to literature by presenting an annotated multi-class dataset of more than 3,200 images covering specific Indian vehicle categories (auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws, tempos), a physics-based synthetic degradation model for fog, rain, and low-light conditions, and a multi-stage perceptual enhancement pipeline combining Retinex decomposition with guided bilateral filtering — demonstrating significant improvement in YOLOv8-based vehicle detection accuracy for Indian road environments underrepresented in global benchmark datasets."
