资源简介:
The power law is a widely used method in wind energy assessments, which involves the approximation of wind speed at a turbine height by using the measured 10m wind speed. However, the power law exponent (α) is frequently assumed to be 1/7 globally in engineering, despite the significant spatial and temporal variations of α. This assumption could lead to inaccurate estimates of wind conditions, which could ultimately result in inaccurate assessments of wind energy potential. In this dataset, we estimate the global gridded, hourly α from 1980 to 2022 using the wind speed at 10 m and 100 m from the ERA5 reanalysis dataset. We provide the α data that includes the spatial (gridded, land&ocean, latitudes, hemispheres) and temporal (diurnal, monthly, interannual) variations, and the global gridded data of the standard deviation and trend of α.
