The aim of this proposal is to collect synchrotron SAXS/WAXD based information on the semicrystalline structure development of double crystallizable PEG / fatty acid (di-)triblock surfactants with different length of PEG and fatty acids moieties. The distinguishable feature of double crystallizable block copolymers and surfactants is the potential crystallization competition between the blocks during cooling from the melt. The closeness of the PEG and fatty acids crystallization temperatures (Tc) should facilitate crystallization competition via the adopted cooling regime and by varying the PEG and fatty acid chain length. Trough the collected morphological data first insights can be gained on mechanistic aspects of crystallization competition in double crystallizable di(tri)block surfactants with close Tc as well as to understand its effect on final crystalline structure.
