NRS-5162 | Registers of patients and admission books

These volumes are a continuous record of the admission of patients from the opening of the hospital to its closure in 1946. Both private patients and those 'chronic public patients chargeable to the Government of New South Wales' are shown, the former accounting for only 25 out of the 150 patients for which the hospital was licensed in 1887. Information includes name, age, sex, occupation, by whose authority sent, dates of medical certificate and doctors, form of insanity and supposed causes, physical condition and details of present and previous attacks, previous admissions, age at first attack and particulars of death, discharge or removal. The form changes in the second and subsequent volumes as does the information contained, especially in regard to discharges. (5/5883-86). 4 vols.
