The goal of this was to determine how maternal diet impacts offspring. To test this, dams were fed one of three diets: low fat (LFD), high fat (HFD) or high fat + glycan (HFD+G) for six weeks prior to mating and continued on these same diets through pregnancy and lactation. Pups were then sacrificed at 21 days old and the cecal microbiota was assessed by 16S rDNA sequencing.
