KB-1 mixed microbial consotrium metagenome sequencing and gemome assembly

Metagenomic sequencing of KB-1: a mixed microbial consortium used to enhance bioremediation of chlorinated solvents in subsurface environments. This series of cultures were originally enriched from contaminated sediment from Southern Ontario in 1996. These cultures continue to be maintained batch style in anaerobic minimal medium in the Edwards Laboratory at the University of Toronto. Each sub-culture is amended with a different chlorinated substrate and 5x electron equivalents required for complete dechlorination in methanol or hydrogen gas.
