资源简介:
The purpose of our project is to investigate global patterns of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through the analysis of publicly available metagenomic datasets. AMR poses a major threat to global health by making infections increasingly difficult to treat, leading to longer illnesses, higher healthcare costs, and increased mortality.
In this study, we aim to identify antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs) in microbial communities sourced from diverse environments and geographical locations. This will help us understand the distribution and variation of resistance traits across regions. We will also examine other functional genes related to microbial activity, such as those involved in carbohydrate metabolism, to explore potential associations with resistance mechanisms. We want to compare the metagenomically identifed antibiotic resistance patterns with antibiotics usage data from different regions
By comparing microbial profiles across multiple countries, this research seeks to reveal trends and regional differences that can inform clinical and public health decision-making. The findings may contribute to improved patient outcomes by supporting more targeted treatment strategies. Additionally, they will aid antimicrobial stewardship efforts by identifying areas with higher resistance burdens and guiding appropriate antibiotic use. Overall, the study will provide valuable insights for public health surveillance and help strengthen health systems through evidence-based planning and intervention.
