Sugarcane is the most important sugar crop, and one of the important energy crops in the world. The complex genetic background and narrow genetic basis of sugarcane lead to long breeding cycle and low efficiency to improve yield by conventional breeding program. Molecular assisted breeding is an important way to break through the bottleneck of sugarcane yield with high efficency. In our previous work, the transgenic sugarcane with over-expression of a Hordeum vulgare GA20ox gene, which showed a very fast growth and higher yield phynotype, was produced. To elucidate the molecular mechanism and discover the candicate target genes for further improving sugarcane growth by molecular methods, we analyzed the gene expression level in the meristem organ and mature leaf between GA20ox- sugarcane and wild-type by transcriptome sequencing.
