We studied forest harvest operations for biomass in the form of trees and tree sections, along with wood for sawtimber and pulp, by evaluating and comparing harvest costs and quantifying the relationship between stand characteristics, harvest costs and harvested volume. We tested four increasing clearcut intensities (from harvesting sawtimber only to harvesting sawtimber, pulpwood and a maximum of biomass) within three sites in eastern Canada.
