Reversibility of macrolide resistance affects long-term treatment outcomes in mycobacterium avium complex pulmonary disease: Retrospective single center cohort study

Macrolide-resistant MAC (MR-MAC) pulmonary disease (PD) is associated with poor treatment outcomes. MR-MAC-PD have been regarded as analogous to that of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). However, our knowledge about persistence and plasticity of macrolide-resistance is lacking. We conducted a single-center retrospective cohort study to investigate the long-term macrolide susceptibility variability in MR-MAC, and the effects of regimen choice on it.
