Ancient Greek: μέλλω + infinitive

This annotation set focuses on the semantic value of the construction μέλλω + infinitive. To this end, we distinguished six semantic categories based on Markopoulos, T. (2009), The Future in Greek: From Ancient to Medieval. Oxford University Press. Our annotation is based on the English translations provided in GLAUx. The following abbreviations were used for the sentences (listed in the column entitled “annotation” in the dataset): T: Future NT: Near Future VP: Obligation VZ: Request M: Possibility A: General Statement Finally, sentences that could not be clearly assigned to any of these categories were labeled as “buiten categorie.”
