Linking the Sustainable Development Goals to Standardized Nursing Language: An Educational Strategy Using the Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC)

This dataset contains the complete results from an educational intervention conducted with undergraduate nursing students at a School of Nursing in Spain. The study explored how nursing students link United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to standardized nursing interventions using the Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC, 7th edition). The dataset includes 68 student group responses across all 17 SDGs, with 164 participating students from four academic years (1st through 4th year). For each SDG, the data includes the selected target, chosen NIC intervention code and name, and three specific nursing activities. Data is organized by academic year to allow comparative analysis. Study design: Cross-sectional descriptive study with exploratory comparative analysis. Sample: All students enrolled in courses where faculty agreed to collaborate (convenience sampling). Each group was randomly assigned one SDG, selected a relevant target, and identified an appropriate NIC intervention with three specific nursing activities during a one-hour classroom session. The database is provided in Excel format (.xlsx) in Spanish, as this was the original language of instruction and data collection. The file includes multiple sheets with data, SDG target legends, and NIC code translations. While primarily in Spanish, NIC intervention codes are internationally standardized and can be cross-referenced with the official NIC taxonomy in any language.
