Microbial community succession and dynamics during the season-long development of apple fruit (Malus x domestica)

The plant microbiota represents a key determinant of plant health and productivity. However, very little is known about the fruit microbiome and its role in disease resistance during fruit development. This project examines epiphytic and endophytic composition of both bacteria and fungi over the full developmental time course of apple fruit.
