Transcriptome Profiling of a Pathogenic Response to a Viral Infection in Jamaican Fruit Bats Artibeus jamaicensis Experimentally Infected With Tacaribe Virus. Artibeus jamaicensis

Bats are a widespread group of mammals thought to host a variety of viruses and other disease agents. We have recently developed a model for the study of a pathogenic response in bats using experimental infections of Jamaican fruit bats (Artibeus jamaicensis) with the New World arenavirus Tacaribe virus (TCRV). Here we performed extensive RNA-sequencing on Artibeus jamaicensis infected with TCRV to generate an extensive bat transcriptome rich in annotated genes including those belonging to antiviral immune pathways.
