Iron content as an indicator for Legionella species in artificial water systems

Following is the data which shows the presence of <i>Legionella spp. </i>in both natural and artificial sources of water, especially in municipal water supply systems. In our study, we show that iron concentration at the sites of bacterial growth can be a reliable chemical marker for the presence of <i>Legionella</i> <i>spp.</i>
