Discovery Mountain Automatic Identification Systems Receiver Deployed 2016-01-01

The Coastguard AIS MMSI 003160102 was deployed on 2016-01-01 at Discovery Mountain. Discovery Mountain is located on the western part of Sonora Island located in the northern end of the Discovery Passage. This device is a Automatic Identification Systems Receiver. Land-based Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers provide data that track marine vessels within range of the receiver. The data are used to monitor, understand and mitigate the impacts of marine shipping activities. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
