Wallet Extension Source Code Dataset for: The Masks We (Think We) Wear: Privacy Threats of Browser-Extension Wallets in the Web3 Ecosystem

This dataset contains the source code of browser-extension cryptocurrency wallets used in the study: “The Masks We (Think We) Wear: Privacy Threats of Browser-Extension Wallets in the Web3 Ecosystem.”

The dataset includes the wallet extension packages that were collected and analyzed to study privacy risks in browser-extension wallets. These source code packages were used as input for the measurement frameworks presented in the paper.

The repository contains three archives corresponding to the datasets analyzed in the study:
- wallet-extension-source-torres-2023-100.zip: 100 wallet extensions from the dataset used by Torres et al. (2023), containing the exact versions analyzed in their study.
- wallet-extension-source-torres-2025-100.zip: the latest available versions of the same 100 wallets downloaded from the Chrome Web Store in November 2025.
wallet-extension-source-cws-10k-85.zip: 85 wallet extensions with more than 10,000 users collected from the Chrome Web Store in November 2025 using the keywords “crypto wallet”, “web3 blockchain wallet”, and “web3 wallet”.

Each archive contains the unpacked source code of the wallet extensions as retrieved during data collection. These files allow researchers and reviewers to inspect the implementation of wallet extensions and reproduce the analysis performed in the study.
