qPCR assay to quantify Pythium sulcatum and Globisporagium violae in soil

<p>Data related to following objectives:</p> <p>(1) to develop an efficient method of extracting DNA from larger soil samples;</p> <p>(2) to determine the effect of soil pre-treatment with PVP and aluminum chloride on the purity and concentration of DNA extracted;</p> <p>(3) to quantify G. violae and P. sulcatum in soil;</p> <p>(4) to evaluate whether the inoculum concentration (fg g-1 of soil) of G. violae and P. sulcatum varies based on the risk of cavity spot as determined by the history of severity of cavity spot as well as mefenoxam application in the year the soil samples were collected.</p> <p>Soil samples were collected from commercial growers' fields at seeding or just before seeding carrots on muck soils in the Holland Marsh from 2021 to 2023.
