Microbial diversity in a river impacted by anthropogenic inputs. aquatic metagenome

The Wonderfonteinspruit is impacted by operational and inoperative gold mines, farms, and formal and informal settlements. The aim of this study was to: (i) determine the bacterial community composition in the Wonderfonteinspruit by using 454-pyrosequencing; and (ii) determine the impacts of physico-chemical parameters on bacterial communities. Data obtained in this study can further be used as a guide for functional studies.
