Antihypertensive therapy and placental concentrations of angiogenic factors.

Placental concentrations of sFlt-1, PlGF, sEng and VEGF (expressed per mg protein) in normotensive controls, pre-eclampsia (PE) and gestational hypertension (GH), grouped according to whether they received antihypertensive therapy or not. The mean gestational ages for the three groups were (mean±SD): controls 242±16; pre-eclampsia 238±13; gestational hypertension 243±20. The P values represent the statistical difference between the groups with hypertension who received antihypertensive therapy or not. PE = pre-eclampsia. GH = gestational hypertension. Data presented as mean (standard error of the mean), and analyzed by independent t test. *P<0.05 compared with normotensive control group.
