资源简介:
The photos show my father, Dick George Tubby, and his brothers Jack and Roger. Jack emigrated to Canada in 1911 and joined the NWMP but volunteered in 1914. Roger was studying theology at London University and volunteered in 1915. Dick was articled to a Norwich lawyer and volunteered in 1914. He was badly wounded on the Somme in July 1916 but returned to fight until 1918. My poor grandmother, a widow, lost two sons, with the third badly wounded, within one month. July 1916
Dick joined the TA in 1929 and became the RSM of the 4th, Suffolks, who were,of course, captured at Singapore. Despite being in charge of the many work camps, he was one of the oldest men to survive and lived until age 83, in 1978.
