Paeonia ostii is a potential oilseed crop as a novel resource of a functional food because its seeds are rich in a-linolenic acid (ALA). However, little is known about the molecular mechanisms responsible for the biosynthesis of ALA in the developing seed kernel, testa, and pericarp. Transcriptome data are needed to better understand these mechanisms.
